Project Overview
The LSU/UMC Bronchiectasis and NTM Program, based at University Medical Center New Orleans, serves a large and diverse patient population throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South. The program combines specialized clinical care with active participation in multicenter research collaborations focused on bronchiectasis, NTM lung disease, environmental lung disease, and pulmonary infections.
Project Summary
Led by Shelby MacRae, MD, the program continues a strong legacy of bronchiectasis and NTM research through epidemiology studies, clinical trials, national registry participation, and health equity initiatives. The center actively contributes to multicenter collaborations while expanding investigations into microbiota-host interactions, chronic suppurative bronchiectasis, and innovative treatment approaches for complex pulmonary disease.
