Project Overview

Bronchiectasis and pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease are chronic respiratory conditions associated with airway inflammation, recurrent infections, and progressive lung damage. Stanford University’s multidisciplinary Bronchiectasis and NTM Center focuses on advancing patient care and expanding scientific understanding of these complex diseases through integrated clinical and research programs.

Project Summary

The Stanford Bronchiectasis and NTM Program conducts investigator-initiated, federally funded, and industry-sponsored research focused on novel therapies, immune response characterization, treatment optimization, and improved diagnostic tools for NTM and bronchiectasis. The center combines pulmonary medicine, infectious disease expertise, translational science, and continuity clinical care to support a rapidly growing patient population.

Project Goals

Impact

This research program improves understanding of bronchiectasis and NTM-related pulmonary disease while supporting development of safer, more effective therapies and diagnostic strategies. Stanford’s multidisciplinary approach enhances patient care, expands access to clinical trials, and advances research for vulnerable populations including transplant recipients and patients with immune compromise.

Advancing Research. Improving Lives.

Support innovative bronchiectasis and NTM research that drives better patient outcomes and future therapeutic breakthroughs.
